Cash, Rolexes and Jewellery found in Safe thought to belong to ‘Ndrangheta boss Vittorio Raso

Two days ago the Italian police Mobile Squad led by Luigi Mitola raided an apartment in Turin used by two drug traffickers, as part of a sting targeting an international drug-trafficking network connected to the ‘Ndrangheta.

During the search the police found 10.5kgs of marijuana, 1.5kg of hashish, packaging material for the drugs, a precision scale, a vacuum machine and cash. They also found weapons and “jammer” type equipment used to intentionally block, jam, or interfere with radio communications such as those used by burglar alarms and wiretapping equipment.

When the search moved to an underground garage in Nichelino (Turin), also used by the drug traffickers, the police made a much more substantial find. A hidden cavity in the concrete structure concealed a metal safe secured with a heavy duty lock and chain. When the safe was forced, the policemen found 440,000 euros in a vacuum-packed bag, as well as 10 “Rolex” watches and gold jewellery, the value of which is estimated at over 200,000 euros. The total value of the haul from the garage exceeded 700 thousand euro.

The method used to conceal the cash and valuables, as well as the stickers and markings on the drugs, indicate that the drug trafficking operation is led by Vittorio Raso, an ‘Ndrangheta boss who is currently on the run.
